Underground Storage Tank Management Program (UST)
The UST Program is responsible for ensuring operational compliance and cleanup of leaks from registered UST systems. The Program is organized into four units and receives support from two additional units as follows:
- Corrective Action Unit I manages leaking UST sites covered by the GUST Trust Fund.
- Corrective Action Unit II manages leaking UST sites ineligible for coverage by the GUST Trust Fund, oversees the State Contractor Team, and administers the federal cleanup grant.
- Regulatory Compliance Unit ensures operational compliance for USTs located outside of the metro Atlanta air non-attainment area and administers the federal prevention grant.
- Petroleum Industry Regulatory Unit ensures operational compliance for USTs located inside of the metro Atlanta air non-attainment area.
- Data Management Unit provides the UST Program assistance by maintaining databases used for registering tanks and tracking compliance and corrective action information.
- Trust Fund Coordination Unit provides the UST Program assistance by administering the GUST Trust Fund and Program income and expenditures.
