Georgia’s Voluntary Remediation Program Act became effective on June 1, 2009.  This Act was created to encourage voluntary investigation and remediation of contaminated properties.  Please use the following link to obtain a copy of Georgia’s Voluntary Remediation Program Act:

EPD appreciates your interest in participating in this program and, as announced by the EPD Director on January 6, 2010, is currently accepting applications.

For applications submitted prior to January 1, 2011, the Director may provisionally accept incomplete applications and stay deadlines for compliance with the Rules for Hazardous Sites Response.  Note: Prior to January 1, 2011, the Director may, at his sole discretion, provisionally accept incomplete applications. The intent is to encourage applicants who may not be able to complete an application, for example, due to incomplete site delineation, to submit applications and be provisionally accepted into the program while allowing the applicant a specified amount of time to complete the application. Applicants provisionally accepted into the program will not be considered participants until the application is completed and approved by the Director. Such applicants are expected to complete as much of the application as feasible at the time of submission and include a detailed schedule for addressing each section of the application that is incomplete.

For applications submitted on or after January 1, 2011, responsible parties for a site that is regulated under the Hazardous Site Response Act must continue with ongoing assessment and corrective action as directed by EPD, until a Voluntary Remediation Program application has been approved.  Failure to do so could result in enforcement action.
